Our second grade class has been very busy. We are finishing up a unit on ants; reading and learning about the different types of ants and what they do. We have made paper ants and we have had fun marching around our room to the song, “The Ants Go Marching.”

We have finished our Geography Unit in Social Studies and were busy making landform maps for several of our states. We enjoyed looking at the various shapes of our states and discovering that Texas is the biggest with Rhode Island as the smallest. We also became familiar with some of the states’ capitals.

The children were very excited to hear about our next unit which is dinosaurs! We will be learning about those giant creatures, leaning what they ate, how they caught their prey and their difficult and long names! We are having fun looking at the different dinosaurs and drawing them. This will get us ready for our trip to the Museum of Natural Sciences on March 29th!

We have learned all of the letters in cursive and are practicing our names, days of the week, and months. Soon all of our work will be done in cursive writing and I’m happy to say that we are writing beautifully!

Math has us regrouping our tens in addition and subtraction and we are working hard on this.

Busy times in second grade!!!

Here is some wonderful artwork that our 2nd Grade students created for Catholic Schools Week.

The theme of Catholic Schools Week was Faith. Academics. Service.
