#tbt Do you remember this? Cursive writing is not a lost art--it's an important fine motor skill that helps with hand-eye coordination and even memory! Here we have St. Peter 3rd graders building those cursive muscles!

Congratulations to the St. Peter School Choir, who sang the National Anthem at the Phillies game on Monday!
Big thanks also to the Catholic Star Herald for taking some wonderful photos! See more on their post here: https://www.facebook.com/CatholicStarHerald/posts/1051112307014461

Look who couldn't even stay retired for
one whole month! Welcome back, Mrs. Newman! (Just kidding; she's filling in for Dr. Perry today!)
#SouthJerseyCatholicSchools

St. Peter School was honored with a visit from Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan, Bishop of Camden, the first week of school. The St. Peter School Choir sang, and Bishop Sullivan led us in prayer, asking God to bless our students this year. He also asked quite a number of our students what they did on their summer vacations. We had no idea our students were so well-traveled!
The Catholic Star Herald interviewed a few of our 8th grade students, and Miss M, our Kindergarten teacher. Read the full article here! https://catholicstarherald.org/students-welcomed-back-to-school-with-prayers-special-guests/

Monday Morning Magic September 16 - So many celebrations today! Check our our new athletics logo...and stay tuned for the full reveal when the gym is finally complete!
First grade wins on time award--and shoutout to Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 6th grade for 💯 attendance today.
Miss Marrazzo gives us an introduction to Hispanic Heritage month. Happy Independence Day to Costa Rica 🇨🇷, Nicaragua 🇳🇮, El Salvador 🇸🇻, Guatemala 🇬🇹, and Honduras 🇭🇳. We'll be celebrating in our classrooms with various activities throughout the month! (6th grade celebrated already by getting down to Mrs. Pearson's playlist...)
Cross-Country Coach Miss Campanell congratulated Jordan for placing in our first invitational meet of the year--14th out of 138! 🏃🏾♂️
Mrs. Roseboro thanks the Saints who washed cars, held signs, and stayed all afternoon to raise $1200 for St. Peter Athletics at the car wash yesterday! And special thanks to Falco, Caruso and Leonard funeral home for generously loaning us their parking lot 🚗🧽🪣 💵
Virtue Award highlights - Mrs. Weed acknowledged Liam and Ava for JUSTICE for always making sure everyone has everything they need. 4th grader Aaliyah and 5th grader Brenden both earned awards for PRUDENCE, each for cleaning up a (different) mess without being asked! Mrs. Pearson honored Aubrey and Bianca for their CHARITY for helping with the St. Peter Rising Stars Auditions on Friday. And Mrs. O'Callaghan overheard Jaeliana and Freya saying the Grace Before Meals as they went to retrieve their class's lunch, and gave them an award for their FAITH 🙏
Saints Circles: Mrs. O'Callaghan reminds us of the second reading from Sunday Mass - James 2: 14-18. Faith + Works = Honoring God's Love. Our faith is a gift from God. We show our thanks for that faith by helping others. What is one way we will help others this week?
- Clean my desk at the end of the day
- Staying quiet when teachers are teaching
- Do the dishes for my mom
- Help other people study
- Give someone a compliment
- Helping our new students and teachers find their way around.
And with that, we bachata off to another great week at SPS! 🕺🏾

Welcome Ms. Weed! Our new second grade teacher is a veteran teacher and reading specialist. She's looking forward to guiding our 2nd graders on their faith journey through their First Holy Communion -- and also through math, science, reading...and of course, writing cursive!

First Monday Morning Magic Assembly of the school year! Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade all have💯 attendance; Kindergarten wins the drawing for🍩🍩🍩 ! Happy birthday to our early September babies 🎂
Lots of virtue excellence this year already....Ms. Weed recognized Joey for CHARITY for sharing all his toys on the playground. Miss Campanell awarded Hannah for her FORTITUDE in adjusting so quickly in her first week at SPS. Mrs. Tell congratulated Paul on his FORTITUDE for keeping his Kindergarten Prayer Buddy quiet during Mass. And Miss Marrazzo acknowledged Max for his CHARITY and always being the first to raise his hand to help out when needed.👋
Then we're into our small group discussions...a little getting to know you with our brand-new 8th graders in charge. Then, Mrs. O'Callaghan asked us to set a goal for the school year. We're focusing on our punctuality and timeliness this year. Here are some of the ones our students came up with:
- Learning Catholic Prayers
- Turn in homework on time
- Participate in class more
- Go to bed on time💤 (so it's not so hard to wake up in the morning!)
- And Jaiden set himself a goal to make the Principal's List! 💯💯
All in all we're kicking off a great year here at SPS!

Welcome Dr. Perry! As a retired NJ Public Schools administrator, and retired high school and college level chemistry and physics teacher, he's been involved in our community for a few years as J.J. and Leah's uncle (and J.J.'s godfather!)
He has been so impressed with our community he was eager to join us! We're so blessed to have him as part of our SPS community. You can meet him tonight at 5th-8th grade back-to-school night. Welcome!
